My previous two posts on this topic ended in disaster, so here goes, third time lucky! :)

I have a 1961 score of “The Old Spinning Wheel “ in “C” (4/4) time, key of C major, written in AAA Notation.

My problem is:

In the bass clef, in some measures (bars), the first note (ie the fundamental bass note) is simultaneously, side by side, written both as a crotchet and as a semibreeve (together).

What is this? Are they alternatives or what? How do I play it?

Any suggestions, please?

( I did try to include a copy of the actual score, but it didn’t work out for me.)

I'm just guessing here, but it could mean you hold the base note (the whole measure) while playing the chords as quarter notes (either 4 per measure or first a rest and then 3).

Yes, Debra, that’s how it seems to me.
The crotchet alongside must be an alternative option.?
It’s a bit weird at first sight! :s

John M,
Is this what you meant?

What I meant was to take a picture of the score with a camera. Im sure you can do it with your phone. I do it with a camera. The picture will be a *xyz.jpeg file. When you create your reply to a post there is a place at the bottom for attachments. You can click on that and add your xyz.jpeg photo as an attachment. When you view your post the photo should appear with your text.

It turns out my files are too large to be accepted :s

OK, installed an image compressing app and tried again. The message went through but no the image

How’s this?

Tried to use an image reduction app. Now the message gets through, but the (reduced) image doesn’t!
I give up! :P

I'm sorry this has been such a headache for you.  I use Microsoft Paint on the PC.  I'm sure there are other tools that work.  Maybe someone else on this forum can help out.
