Hi All:
I'm a fairly new accordion player, and a newcomer to the forum.
I am what you might call--a Senior Beginner again. Having played the accordion
many years ago, as a youngster, then an absence of 50 years.
I  have been self teaching the piano accordion with the use of older Sedlon, and older
Palmer-Hughes lesson books.
I  have been getting some useful tips from a couple friends that have been playing for many years,
and even tried taking a few lessons from professionals.
I'm having a great time, and really enjoy learning.
I  find that the more I learn about music, and the more I learn about the accordion------the more  there
"is" to learn, and soo much I don't understand.
The other experience that I endured, is buying an accordion. That is a very confusing process. Trying to sort
out the magnitude of accordion brand names, who make what, where they are made, price points, wow,
overwhelming to say the least. I  made several mistakes along those lines.  Buyer-Beware.
Well, enough about me.
I'm hoping make some new friends on the forum, and learn from the many experiences, and hopefully share some
knowledge  I have .
Thanks for taking the time to listen to my rambling.

Welcome Chickers!

It's true, buying is a veritable minefield. I went through many used and restorations before deciding to buy new Italian accordions direct. Smartest thing I I ever did.

I hope your new playing goes well and you have big fun. This is a great forum, many friendly and helpful people, here to make you feel right at home.

Hi Chickers,

Welcome to the forum, where I feel sure you will be very happy.

Please tell us about your escapades with regard to selecting you instrument(s). What did you end up buying? Are you happy with it/them?

Kind Regards,

Stephen.

Hi Chickers,

I knew that there would be an interesting back-story to your accordion purchases, and so it has proved to be.

The most important thing is that you like your accordion. That is half the battle; the rest is about dedication.

My advice, for what it's worth, is to just enjoy yourself. Nobody on this forum is perfect, nor are most of us ever likely to be.

Kind Regards,

Stephen.

Hi Eddy,

I enjoyed the clip you posted.

Take It Easy,

Stephen.

Thanks, Stephen. Double back atcha!
Looking forward to your posts, Checkers. I’ve learned a lot on this forum about accordions and playing them, and (trying not to sound maudlin here) about living. A bunch of good scouts trying to do their best, as has been said.
