Hi there, I'm guessing this has been asked already, I'm trying to repair an Elkavox 83 and tone generator for a mate. The problem is the cable to link them both. He got a cable but it doesn't work, I think it's actually connected wrong. Would I be right in saying the tone generator would've had a cable hard wired into it from new? It now has a 15 pin serial port fitted so the cable is removable. A wiring diagram would help greatly or even a photo of the connections inside the plugs at both ends

Hello Graham , I owned the Elkavox 83 acoustic/electronic accordion c/w midi socket purchased it in 1987 finally sold it to a guy in scotland about 5 yrs ago it was a good work horse !! never ever let me down !! Mine had the connecting cable solidly connected to the generator box ...When i purchased it all those years ago i insisted i would not take delivery of the instrument without complete set of manuals and of course circuit drawings . So when i sold all the gear to the fellow in scotland all the manuals were included in the deal ......sorry i cannot be of any more help ......i don't know where you are based it would help to know ............regards ............good luck Giovanni

Thanks for your help, I'm in the North East of Scotland. Trying to fix the instrument for a friend, I don't have any idea how to play it but I'm an electrical engineer and hope I can make some sense of the wiring

You are correct that the "umbilical cord" for the tone chamber is originally not removable. In fact the wire runs clear around to the back of the board and attaches in various soldered in connections.

Here are a couple of pictures from my tone chamber that may help.

Thanks so much for your help, that'll be a huge help with figuring out the wiring, hopefully get his accordion up and running soon ?
