Just wondered if it makes any difference when repairing treble keys whether or not the reed boxes are taken out of the accordion.

( If the reed boxes are taken out the notes can't be played as there is no bellows compression but the mechanical linkages would be the same? )

The reed boxes are the other side of the treble bulkhead so there shouldn't be an issue.

But it is worth taking care not to drop muck into the holes the air flows through - which are under the treble pallets.
Such muck should be removed otherwise it will end up inside a reed chamber.

If you have treble cassotto it might be different.

Close the slides under the treble pad you work on. With the grill off you can move them by hand. In most cases they can all be closed
at the same time.
