Insect repair.

Here is a little Hohner 12 bass with insect damage. The little critters built a nice hotel in the key slots. Looks a lot worse than it is as there is very little damage to the slot sides or to the underside of the keys. Some cleaning/sanding and this accordion can be played again. The key axle rod came out very easily. Wish they were all like that.

Did you determine the type of insect? That would be interesting. A local university can be your friend.
 
Looks like some sort of mud wasp or similar. Probably no actual damage to the accordion. I had a old car that had a mud nest like this clogging the air jet on the carb, took awhile to figure out.
