How many accordions do you own

I have two. One, an older Castiglione (IIRC, been in the case a while) 2/4 that sadly needs more work than it's worth. I've kept it because I'd like to get around to refurbishing it to gain skill in being able to repair my own.

The other is a Siwa & Figli Cobra Grande 4/5 120 bass with a lovely mild musette. That one I play consistently, often at the expense of time practicing my orchestra music.

I had a parrot or something 3/4 for several years that was my first accordion, but I sold it when I got the other one.

27 or 28 pounds!  Yeah, be sure go get and use them while you are young for you won’t want them  that heavy when you get old.

The Morino is in the 30+ pound class and I can still handle it easily enough at 58 (soon to be 59) years old and it is going to be an interesting thing to see how long I can play it, because that accordion is not going anywhere out of my hands except for any future maintenance it may ever need.  Newer accordions may be lighter, may sound better to others, but the sentimental value that this accordion has to me is worth more than almost any other existing accordion here on earth. 

Oh, by the way, Paul, my Morino was one of those that had the bad glue issues and was one of the sticky key Morino accordions.  In my case it was the 185 felts of the entire left hand that were replaced way back when I brought her back out of retirement.  I posted about it back in a blog post I made back in April 6, 2016.   :shy:

I have 2 a pigini 55b c with free base and I recently acquired a Maugein export just 7 kilos with beautiful tone and manoverabikity with powerful base.
I am really beginning to enjoy playing this instrument.

I was wondering about that, if they would one day get to be too heavy. Even with playing while sitting?? I really want to try a 96 bass too

Just acquired several more. One is a Bass accordion that needs work though. I cant play it because it was damaged in transit. If it works, it would be a steal from Ebay. I really can't wait to try out the Bass accordion, it would open new doors for me

Well I'm slightly embarrassed about my reply as I've only been learning since the summer (July 18) and seem to have amassed a mini-fleet without spending much dosh.....
They are all second hand and many I've lent out to friends as I like sharing a new interest with other musically inclined people to see if I can get them to catch the bug.

The ones I use:
Hohner Atlantic (1960's in great nick)
Hohner Arietta (also in great nick)
Bugari Championcassotto (pretty awesome and hard to put down)

The ones I've lent out to friends:
Weltmeister Stella (now full of masking tape and bath towels so great for quiet practice in city flats)
Hohner Arietta 
Selmer Invicta 
Two x Scarlatti 48 bass 

I think I'll probably hang on to those three ones I use regularly - Bugari is a real treat to play - so easy by comparison and really sings with a musical voice - makes the others sound a little like tin cans. There is something really nice though about trying to make good music on very average instruments. Ideally I'd like to be someone that can make good music on average instruments rather than play a great instrument less than it deserves.
