Hey,

After a couple of years of having my accordion gather dust in the closet, I picked it up again in January this year. I used to have a teacher for several years when I was 9 or so, but I had forgotten most of the songs I had learned. So far I've practiced a number of Finnish, Russian and other walzes so that I at least have a sufficient repertoire family-gatherins and such. At some point I should also get a better accordion, once I have the financial capability to do so. I've been quite lazy in studying theory and doing finger-exercises, but perhaps when I have the new accordion I'll start with that as well. :tup:

Hi Lefalex, your country has some fantastic tunes; I especially love some of the waltzes such as Emmas Waltz.

I feel that enjoying what you play is far more important than studying theory or doing finger-exercises, unless of course you enjoy that sort of thing.

I am working on an arrangement and practicing a Finnish tune Säkkijärven polkka. It is the first tune to make my hands hurt; it feels like a Czerny exercise.

Lasse Pihlajanmaas Special with chromatic buttons, 2 registers (äänikertaa) and free-bass system. I think its the basic model which is often recommended for the young people as the first accordion. I got mine when I was 8 or 9. What Im mainly looking for is more registers and a better sound. You wouldnt have an idea what I could get for my accordion if I sold it to a store? Or should I try to sell it directly myself? Its in fairly good condition, but it needs tuning and perhaps minor aesthetic reparations.

Are the Lasse Pihlajanmaa accordions actually manufactured in Finland or are they imported from Italy and re-badged?

Lasse Pihlajamaa-accordions are indeed manufactured by Pigini according to their website.

I dont know about the prices but I know that the price does not usually get any cheapier when the accordion gets older. You should ask for example, someone who repairs or sells accordions. If there is any accordion teachers or dedicated players near your home you should ask them. The condition affects a lot to the price but on the picture yours seems to be in excellent condition.

If you dont know where to ask you can try this http://www.soitinoy.fi/tervetuloa I visited his shop during my summerholidays and the owner of the shop is professional and can tell you about the prices of used accordions. He can even buy your box or change it to another one. Also, dont hesitate to ask for your local music shop.

I too am practising russian walzes at the moment. Just finished studying Uralin pihlaja last week.
