I noticed someone ( in France) selling a Fisitalia CBA at what looks like a bargan price, as they say it is 'New'... read into that a pinch of salt as they also say it has been recently tuned. So, as there does not appear to be an agent for Fisitalia in France I took a look at their website and enquired the prices. They came back with what looks to be a very reasonable price structure.
I'd go and look at the secondhand model but it is right up in the mountains on the other side of the country. It is snowing here... what the roads might be like at Mont Blanc I'd not like to guess.

Anyone got a Fisitalia instrument or opinions ?

thanks,
Geoff.

Smaller brands make very good instruments but are a harder sell than the better known large brands. Thats why there may be an opportunity for a good deal regarding price/performance. But if you ever decide to sell it on the advantage may be gone again...
Many (especially italian) accordions main consist of standard parts that are outsourced by all accordion manufacturers, so regarding maintenance and repair (should that ever be needed) there is no problem in having a lesser known brand. And regarding quality there is no difference in everything that is outsourced either.

Well,
I looked carefully at the advices and decided to go take a look at a Fisitalia for sale at an accordeon dealer/repairer... not too far from home. I bought it because it fitted all my criteria ( Five row CBA , 96 basses in 3/3 format, 440hz pitch, LMM with four voice bass, light and handy size but not too small. ) The model is called 'Compact 49'.

First tests show it to have very good dynamic range from whisper quiet to quite strident.

So far so good and I will try it out on stage this evening with our dance band.

Finding an accordeon with all those features is not easy, even in France, unless you have one made to order. {}

If Fisistalia are good enough for Ludovic Beier then they're good enough for us hamfisted mortals...enjoy

Congratulations with your choice. Getting an accordion from a dealer close to home is a very good start. And when it fits your needs, even better. From both a smaller manufacturer and a local repairer you can expect better finishing of the instrument than from the big players for which minimum effort for maximum profit is more important than only delivering perfect instruments. Your experience with the dynamic range seems to confirm that.

I wish you many happy moments with your new instrument!

Thanks for the good wishes Paul.

The little Fisitalia did blend in with the band much better than my ancient LMMM with strong musette tuning.. I just have to get used to the lighter bass side which has a slight tendancy to move with my hand when shifting positions but I really aprieciated the lighter weight .

Happy festive season to all.
