Thank you, Iā€™m not sure if 140 bass is rare? Iā€™m guessing this accordion is from the early 60ā€™s?
This one is late 40.s. It has replacement grill cloth, the mic's removed & the Sordina missing. Ony 1 of every 200 were made.

Hi Jim, I'm don't think it ever had a sordina, as there isn't any cut out on the grill for it. The previous owner thought it was built in the early 60's, but maybe it's older. The key tops and grill cloth were replaced, and as you mentioned the electronics removed. The 140 bass sounds like it's fairly rare? I don't see too many chambered Excelsiors in this vintage. It would be nice to find some original electronics for just the grill, so to fill the space and not for operation purposes.

The slit under the shift machine is where the Sordina slide handle was.

There is a plastic piece where a sordina would be. Looks factory. The guy I bought it from purchased from the original owner. I was told just the grill cloth and keys were done

As far as I know accordions with 140 bass had an extra row of minor third buttons (nearest the bellows) and were specifically built for playing Balkan music.
(I have a 140 bass Giulietti LMH 41 PA, simply because I liked the sound of it: nothing so fancy as yoursšŸ™‚)

Thank you Dingo40, it does have a nice sound to it. I'm not used to the 7th row, sometimes my fingers will hit the 7th row, instead of the counter bass. I'm not sure if this is a rare Excelsior.

You'll get used to having the seventh row and it won't trouble you šŸ™‚
The G- bass is dragging a bit, need to see what's going on there. The button is slow to return. I don't often see older Symphony's with a tone chamber, it has a nice sound.

OK damp; I missed your post for a day but here goes ---- That plastic piece covers the original tone & volume pots
that came with the accordion originally. The Sordina slot for the slide is UNDER THE shift machine.
