The greatest free source for public domain music is imslp.org (the Petrucci Music Library). It has a wealth of classical and baroque music, for all types of instruments and ensembles or orchestras.

Hello,

I was wondering what the players in the community use as sheet music resources. Personally, I have been using www.accordion-scores.com, which I really enjoy!

Looking forward to your replies.
Hi Henri,

Since I play mostly traditional music, it's pretty easy to find example sheet music for the songs I want with a simple Google search. I almost always arrange them myself, though, into a lead sheet in the key I prefer, using abc notation.

Thanks Tom. I would love to see some of your arrangements ( I am sure I am not the only one ). Maybe you can upload them on here or on the other platform - www.accordion-scores.com ?

Hi Tom, While I am working my way thru the P&H beginner books, how refreshing to find familiar tunes on your Accordion Club that are in a simplified format. Playing the shorter songs helps to build my confidence and ability to play from memory which I find hard to accomplish at my current level.

Thanks so much, Buckeye! I hope to get more up there one of these days.... Did you notice I snuck a couple originals in there? ??

I like your Blue Skirt Waltz--almost identical to the original--except for one measure, which I like better on yours. The last measure of the Intro--the original has F#, G, A going to the verse--it never sounded right to me. I like your G, F# E . It is a better "lead in" to the verse. I also have a 3rd part that has some nice triplets. Let me know if you don't have it. I can make it available.

Would the originals be Southwind and Garys Old Time? I didn't play them yet. Worked on Blue Skirt Waltz for the evening practice by penciling in the finger numbering and was able to play the whole song. Absolutely delighted.

Thanks John, glad you like it! To be honest I don't remember where I derived that music, whether that part was in there or whether I changed it to something I liked better. ? I generally find several sheets that I use as a basis for what I like.

Yes, I would like to see the third part that you have, thanks. You can send it through private message here or post it or ????

Thanks Buckeye! Gary's Old time is one of the originals, Southwind is a traditional Irish waltz.

Tom,

I just sent you the Blue Skirt Waltz original. It is the accordion version that was the million seller for Frankie Yankovic. The copyright is 1944. I don't know what the copyright rules are, so I sent you the PM.

Hi Tom, just been looking at your Constance Waltz. Nice little tune.
Is there a bar missing from the last line?
All the other parts have 16 bars but the last one only has 15.

Thanks Major! That's the other original. You could add another bar of "E" to the second to last line to make them "match," but I generally play it as it's written here (although I don't often play it the same way twice ?).

If you go to the "Tunes and How to Play Them", section, and then look in "Printed Music Sources", you will find all the sites you could ever need :)
