I highly suggest that you take a couple hours and read through the free to download PDF manual from Roland, it will have the answer to that question for you as well as the coming 50-100 questions that all new users have at the start.
There is good information when you Start/Boot your 8X. The Version No. you have will show on one of the opening "screens". I believe it is the 2nd screen. It's at the bottom. The screens flash quick, but you will get it -- it may take a couple of "Start Ups".
You will need a USB cable to connect your 8X to the PC for the new firmware download. The PC "End" is a USB "C". I believe the 8X "End" of the cable is a USB "B". It's at the bottom of your 8X where all the Speaker outputs, Midi, etc. are.
I haven't done this, but I think it will work. Let me know.
