i have been volunteered to play at a school day nursery (where my daughter works) for an hour

i was going to play some serious songs (as mainly that's what i know, eg waltz, tango) and some fun stuff (eg oh my darlin, skip to lou, lord of dance) but now now having doubts (serious may not be enjoyable) and wondering what's best really and don't know that many songs

suggestions welcome for maybe a top ten song play list that others may do in the same situation (or maybe has already done) :)

its in 2 weeks so ideally would like to play off the cuff by ear/memory with little practice (not a good dot reader, sorry) at least with treble end (i think i would need longer for bass end stuff as that's my weakness)

My wife, a teacher, suggests you contact the teachers and ask for a list of songs they sing.
Some of those you can probably work up in a short time.
Also playing things they know and can sing to would hold their attention.

attention span is something i was wondering about :? :)

well i can ask my daughter as she works there full time (and sings along with them im sure)

i dont really want to become an xtra teacher for the hour  :)

When I was a very young lad I was really impressed with Alouette - easy to play and add lots of verses.

"the wheels on the bus" is always a firm favourite.

i've started to make a list ....... :)

just for back up does anyone know of sites where the dots for this type of music can be found  :?: :!:

An hour is tooo long.
They won't know you're just playing the tune.
Look for activity songs - my kids loved:
"I travelled over land and sea" and
"Bow, bow Oh Belinda"

your probably making a good point but not sure what you mean

prob need to have lots of breaks

They won't know you're just playing the tune. = so the Left hand doesn't matter.

An hour is tooo long = Ask the nursery workers but I'd be surprised if any activity would be expected to last an hour. Unless you could use the accordion as a support for other things as well as singing - dance/movement -big/sound/little sound, close your eyes, where am I standing (playing the accordion at the same time would help here! - does this tune make you sleepy/want to march/slither/yawn?

what music book is this - looks quite good :?:

The book costs only a few electrons, which are free of charge (yes, pun intended 8-) ), making the deal even sweeter {}

Please read this post

ahh that's why it looks familiar - i have tried some of those 1st few lessons when started out learning couple yrs back - although i started to have a problem where mp3 files would open but not play sounds on my pc :( :)

The sound loss is Microsoft updates - pain in the ar** for screwing with your settings. Is it OK now?

It is Duane's lessons. He deserves every credit for 'em too. The book he takes the sheets from is (an out of print) Sedlon Method. You can still get Sedlon - at least the first 4 - 1a&b , 2a&b. The rest, up to 5a & b are out of print - but sometimes come up on ebay, gumtree etc.

Was/Is it today, 22nd Oct? How did it go?

microsoft updates - that's interesting theory !- nope not working still - i did have a friend i used to be able to send them to -and when he sent them back allowed me to open and listen myself in the attachment

the tiny tots show is friday

i am also taking my small red 8 bass pa to play some dittys

So come on Dave - we ARE interested ... what tunes are on the agenda?

noisy intro (made up exercise of mainly chords)
kumbaya
