I'd like some links to videos with jigs/reels/hornpipes etc being played where you can really see the basses being worked, am curious to see what different approaches to fingering look like for this type of tune, which is the bulk of what I play. I'm familiar with videos of B/C/C# players like Graeme McKay and Graham Irvine, who have a lot of stuff up. Any good/prolific PA/CBA players on YouTube playing British Isles dance music?

Hi there.
The best example I can think of is this snippet by Gordon Pattullo. Excellent camera (and playing) work.
This was posted last month but your post is a more sensible place to have the link.

Two Reels on Piano Accordion played by Callum Watt

Irish Piano Accordion: Reels - All the Teas / Dinkey Dorrians

Irish Piano Accordion: Jigs - The Tar Road to Sligo / Trip to Sligo

Scottish Reels - Thom Hardaker (Accordion)

Thanks Stephen, very nice playing in the two middle clips by FolkAccordion. First class idiomatic bass playing for Irish in the Tar Road to Sligo.

(Important to note that in general there's a BIG difference in bass style between Irish and Scottish.)

Ian Lothian has a phenomenal left hand. See here:

(And yes, he does play for dancing)

Thanks for all of these, the FolkAccordion guy is a nice player, will check out the others by and by.
