This was his reply
(No clue buddy. Its a steal at $200. Thats all I know! If you want to have a look then text me at xxx)
...

Could be even worse: it may just have been a ploy to steal either your identity or your money without the accordion even existing. Measuring the length of the keyboard isnt hard to understand even for someone who never played accordion. The only reason I can imagine for the seller being unable to do that is not actually having the accordion and only wanting to rob you.

I don't like to leave this thread end on a dismal note Paul, so I will add that the likely hood of getting robbed this way in this country is pretty remote. In all my years, I have never heard of it. And if it were his intention, he never would have emailed me a few hours later and cancelled my appointment to view it.
As for him not wanting to measure the keyboard, he probably was not where the accordion was. Judging by the email he sent me when I told him I could not be there till the next day that he maybe was not not going to be there till then also.
(Ok I won't be available till 4:00ish then I have to leave at 5:15. My address is xxxx)
Another red flag should have gone up for me here. Crooks likely don't sell stolen goods out of their own home and this address was probably was not his home.
So the moral of the story here for me is to decide which make, size and model I really want for an accordion and advertise that on Craig's list and sit back and let it come to me rather than browsing the ads. Should be able to hear what it sounds like and get a ballpark price on u tube. Am checking the Hohner Verdi ii n you recommended but wondering what the difference is between it and the M model and how much does it weigh?
