I am buying a red pearl Rogledi 120 musette LMMM from my favourite local music store. Paul Rogledi made accordions in Stradella Italy between 1904 and 1972. I'm picking it up on the 23rd of March, so I don't have any pics yet.

There's a new bylaw here that any used accordion purchased by a store has to be registered with the police, and not put out on display for 30 days. The manager is a friend so he gives me notice of any accordions I've asked him to look out for. In this case a mmm musette. Cosmetically it needs work, new straps and some loving care and attention. However, most importantly, it's in tune and sounds great. Because of not looking so great I'm getting it for $100 (£53). It looks worse than it really is and will clean up nicely.

If any member knows anything about the Rogledi accordion I'd love to hear about it. I really like the Italian musette sound. I'll post pics when I get it.

Is it a PA or Button box ??

Heres the website referring to Rogledi.

The description of Rogledi accordions is impressive. If they were that good how come I havent heard of them before? However, it is from their website so well see if any members can shed light on this accordion. At first glance it looks like a 60s model, but I could be way off.

Its a piano accordion by the way.

Pic's will help.

I'll go back to the store and get the manager to take it out of storage, and I'll take some pics. I love getting new accordions, especially if they are bargains and I can fix them up.

Is that law just pertaining to Accordions?

What?.. and how?..

All the Pawn shops in the US have the same requirements for any merchandise they purchase. It gives the Police time to check if any of the merchandise is reported stolen.

Yes, as Jim says, it applies to all merchandise.

Makes sense really; I was trying to imagine the drafting of a law that only applied to the sale of used accordions.. :)

From Internet news clip. Could not save the page.. sorry.

Piermaria Accordions has written: Bad News for us. Our factory in Italy was robbed (Friday 13th March) and a lot of instruments were stolen that were ready for the USA, several for the French market and also included the accordions for the display at the Frankfurt Musikmesse.

I find it terrible to steal musical instruments in mass that were meant to delight children for example and are the work of our Piermaria specialised workers. I feel disgusted. Please share this information as widely as possible.

I guess the above could be one of the reasons..

These instruments must be easily traceable. The thieves are not too bright . Hope Piermaria were insured.

I went to the store and took a couple of pics of the Paolo Rogledi and was able to play it a little more. Their website only takes you to their piano production. However, if you google Paolo Rogledi Stradella, their website which is the sixth down will give you their blurb on Paolo's accordions.

Now, I suppose we must bear in mind his son is blowing the horn for his dad's accordions, but I must say I love the sound of this one I'm getting.

Although it needs cosmetic work, I was amazed at how it's basically in tune and sounds really sweet to my ears. I consider myself lucky to get such a nice sounding LMMM, which is a tuning I've always wanted, at such a great price.

I forgot to mention that the keyboard is just under 18 3/4 inches long, with an outside measurement of 19 inches. The keyboard is the perfect size for my fingers.

Does anyone have any idea of the approx year it was made. It would have to be prior to 1972 because that's when they stopped making them. I'll send more pics of the reeds blocks inside when I pick it up on the 23rd March.

This one is a late 30's early 40's and looks great for it's age. From the Pic's it will require some bellows work.
