Your absolutely correct Ed, If acoustic accordions didn't possess a slight degree of compression leakage accordionists would be popping reeds out of their seats on the reed blocks. This leakage is also present on the Roland "V" accordion models as without it the bellows effect simulator could be ruptured (not unlike the rupture of a human eardrum) JIM D.
Cycling does it for me,I don't have any real issues apart from a little wrist ache if I go beyond a couple of hours playing the accordion,being retired gives you time to do most things .
This may seem stupidly simple, but 60% of these same complaints are the result of improperly adjusted shoulder straps. Your right shoulder strap should be at the minimum of 4 longer than the left strap. This will give a 2 difference when worn. JIM D.

with mine there is a fist width gap

the other thing that confuses me is the fact that it has been said on here the straps should be the same length sitting as standing - yet when sitting the pa should rest on your lap - yet if you keep good posture with upright back the pa would be suspended like when standing really (in my case maybe) - i am not really tall by the way
Although there are some that play their accordions resting on their lap the proper way to perform and control the accordion is with it suspended by the shoulder straps. professional accordionists when not standing sit on a stool or chair with the accordion supported by their shoulders. such as this -
I can't tell from your posts how you push and pull the bellows. I think it is a lot harder to learn to (on the push) close the top first and let gravity bring in the rest. But doing so seems to take a lot of the pressure off the left wrist, hand and arm. You will see most of the pros doing this. Ok, it takes some work to get this down and it take considerable practice. It seems like it should be easy but in reality if you tried a few times and gave up it is worth putting the time into to get down because it will save you a lot of soreness in the long run. This is just my personal opinion and not meant to diss anyone but try it, you'll like it!
