Pee Wee King & Golden West Cowboys (1950s)

His accordion appears plenty towards the middle, where the song becomes instrumental :)

Slow poke was released in 1952 as a single and composed by Pee Wee himself, so the TV presentation on the video above is probably from around then.

The Tennessee Waltz in my favorite Pee Wee King piece.

Hard not to like it! In my repertoire and I’ve played it a couple times already this summer. Probably play it Tuesday, my own simple lead sheet arrangement as usual. Haven’t seen Pee Wee play it…..

Indeed! I love that there's Tennessee Waltz, and Tennessee Waltz Polka! 😁

This one?πŸ€”
That's a fun one too, but the one on the TV show I know as "Stay all night (stay a little longer)", and I don't think Pee Wee King released as a record. They do have a similar dance purpose and fiddle pattern!

Not the same tune!! :)

I guess to be more precise: What they're playing at the very end of the video is a setting of the tune that is known, around here, as "Devil's Dream".

Well, we don't typically have military recruitment speeches yelled over the top of it, but otherwise it's the same. :-)

So is there a different tune that everyone calls Devil's Dream where you are? (Any good links to a version of that one?) Good to know this sort of thing if I ever find myself in an across-the-pond session one day!

My apologies Jeff πŸ™ .
I listened to the video Dingo40 put up as Pee Wee King playing Devils Dream and it is obviously not the same tune.
Having listened on YT to Devils Dream it is indeed the same.
In Scotland we call it "De'il among the tailors".
I think, originally a pipe tune.
