I wonder if anyone knows of other fora that may possibly be more aligned with my own style preferences?

Aside from playing a bit of musette, all of the music I play is from the Americas I believe. Further, I don't have an interest in the pop/jazz/classical end of things.

I wonder if there are any fora more oriented toward blues/zydeco/forro/cumbia? Undoubtedly there must exist tejano/vallento/tex mex/swing oriented groups, but I don't play any of those styles. In fact, I don't play any swing style that I can think of - I have an avid interest in early jazz, more the "Latin tinge" a la Jelly Roll Morton.

There is a cajun/zydeco Facebook group called Accordion Trader that has a bias towards sales, but I see some good discussion and progress posts on there sometimes.

Blues/zydeco/forro/cumbia would be a fun forum. That seems like a spread of different genres, but it unites the "how to have a good accordion dance party" styles well. If I was gonna have a working ? party band that's what I'd probably play. I don't know anywhere where people are discussing that mix of styles though.

Many thanks for the feedback. Ya I'm totally into dance music. I'm a retired drummer, and accordion best assuages my need to move my body with music. I totally love lots of Latin forms - Dominican Republic to Brazil, Peru to New Orleans - a little maxixe, a little boogie woogie, (I play cajun fiddle and accordion too - some merengue and stuff is much like - all that 2 step, it's all of a kind, in ways). But I love the movement, the syncopation, and the laid back blues of Jelly Roll, Professor Longhair, Dr John at the piano. I'm not a piano player, but I love to play this on the accordion - one of my indoor workouts is playing accrdn and dancing to chicha. :coffee::coffee:

Ya, I like a small, noisy accordion like that :) I think that piece came originally from DBA - but it's very fun to play on PA too.

Don't know what went wrong, but here's the other clip:?

Seen these guys in Minneapolis, a local legend, Dan knows about a million songs and plays a Planet accordion, probably pretty nice, don't know who makes them.

Someone on a mandolin site I frequent posted one of the Cafe Orchestra's vids the other day. Ya i really like forro and choro and all that. I like to play flutes and stuff, even clarinet is traditional in the music. And of course percussion.

I used to play guitar and double bass, in salsa and rock and stuff - and drums and amplifiers and stuff. Not any more! Ha Couldn't lift it
