Last night we had the great pleasure of seeing the London Klezmer Quartet at The Eastbourne Folk Club at the Lamb Pub, or maybe the Lamb Folk Club in Eastbourne, not sure which around that should be...
Inspired playing from all. Amazing virtuoso clarinet from Suzy Evans, accompanied by Ilana Cravitz on fiddle and Carol Isaacs with a 30/72 Allodi/Fantini, nicely dry tuned and all kept on time by Indra Buraczewska on double bass, who sang, dramatically in Yiddish and English.

if you get a chance go and see them, not a whiff of accordion cheese here. Excellent

Plenty of clips on YT. www.londonklezmerquartet.com

As an aside the food at The Lamb was pretty good too, all home cooked and prepared, not a hint of Brake Brothers Factory Food..

I've only heard them on CD but they're great. Susie Evans' gorgeous liquid phrasing on clarinet sets the bar very high for the rest of the band but they come up to the mark well. Not surprised you liked it!

What intrigued us was Miss Evans breath control, I can't begin to guess how she does it, long phrases, fast tunes, lots of notes and jigging about. Amazing.
