Leading an Orchestra with an Accordion

It is quite common for a "lead" player to act as conductor at the same time, with smaller ensembles (not a whole symphonic orchestra). Often it is the lead violinist who "conducts" while playing. In baroque music you also sometimes see the continuo-player to also be the conductor. Ton Koopman for instance often conducts the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra while playing the continuo part (on harpsichord).
