I purchased a small Frontalini 25/32 accordion in perfect condition at an estate sale and on the back it says made in Italy 256/90. Any one can tell me what those numbers stand for?
These were batch numbers that helped keep the pieces sorted and also provide some ability for the company to do internal tracking if an issue came up. They don't have meaning today, since the companies no longer exist, and their records weren't preserved. Hohner is the only exception I know of -- their numbers can sometimes be used to find a production date.
