I am curious to know when Hohner started to put their little man figure on their accordion fronts and whether it coincides with the transfer of production to China.

No, it has nothing to do with it. I have seen it on accordions from the 70’s and 80’s and there is a version of one on my Imperator V made ‘early 70’s if I recall???
