I just happen to see the volume 1 of this famous accordion tutor is online in pdf ...
Both fingering indications for PA and CBA c-system. This method/tutor is a very good one !
There is also a volume 2 for advanced level.

http://www.chimbero.es/pdfs/METODO BERBEN.pdf

Hi Stephen,

Many thanks for posting that link. Im into Spanish accordion music and somebody mentioned the Berben method on here a while ago. I had never heard of it.

Ive only seen a handful of Spanish players using CBA, and in fact PA players are now pretty scarce too in Spain.

I read somewhere that Extremadura on the Portuguese border was the only Spanish region where the accordion in any form was popular, but Ive never really looked into the history of the instrument in Spain.

Ill have a look through the PDF. Theres always something to be learned from those older method books.

CBA = Continental Button Accordion, or also Chromatic Button Accordion
ou seja = acordeão (sanfona, gaita) cromático de botões ...
para diferenciar dos acordeões piano e também das sanfonas diatónicas, oito baixos e outras ...

Also interesting = L'ÉCOLE DE BASSES, by Léo Laurent & Albert Malthus (Paul Beuscher, Paris).

What is "CBA"?

Hi,

It's a term we use to denote a Chromatic Button Accordion, which I imagine will be pretty rare in Brazil, judging by the clips I've seen on You Tube.

We use PA to indicate a Piano Accordion, the usual type in Brazil.

CBA is the most common type of accordion in a few European countries. They usually have 4 or 5 rows of treble buttons instead of piano keys.

Hello everybody,

This online pdf of volume 1 of the Fugazza Cambieri Melocchi CBA method is from around 1952, I guess.

It is a favorite 2 volumes tutor used by lots of accordion teachers.

The texts are in Italian, English and Spanish. Fingering indications are notated in detail.

This pdf is a help for learners in the UK, USA and Latin American regions. Where CBA teachers don't exist.

Does anyone own the Claudio Jacomucci's method for technique on the C-system CBA? I'd love to see pics of a couple of the pages to get a feel for the kind of exercises it has inside?
