Company, Philip Glass

Yes .... especially PtIV.....though I had to go to YouTube to find it....PtI opened but rest did not follow on from this link.....haunting and refreshing at same time......👏

PtlV? Very interesting Ben, thanks. I usually run for the hills faster than a classical player who sees Yankovic when I see the name Philip Glass but I listened to the whole thing with an open mind and it was…..ambient. I kind of get it.

Ow sorry about that, I'm not sure how to share youtube playlists on here, so here are all 4 parts:

Yeah its not musical comedy but with an open mind :)

Lovely! I've always thought that Phil Glass' music sits particularly well on accordion. Thanks for sharing!
I think so too. I did Mishima last year

I think next year I'll have a go at the first Etude, accordionists seem to play the sixth and not much else, enough reason enough to explore fresh pastures!

I've played parts of Mishima with the accordion quartet I play with, Bachtopus. And we do version of Japura River too. Great fun to play.

We were inspired by this group who have a whole album of PG music. I think it's a duo, but details about the players and the instruments are sketchy.

Very well played (in all these videos btw) but I cannot help felling that all music by Philip Glass sounds so much alike that once you heard one I feel you heard them all. I know, that may be what minimal music causes in general, but still... I have one arrangement of a work by Glass (arranged for accordion quintet) and I don't feel the need for another.

Thanks very much Paul, that's kind. I used to be anti Philip Glass for what I thought was the same reason, however once I delved deeper I changed my mind.

Here are some examples:

From an opera (audiences went crazy about it earlier this year)

and a foray into pop music I especially like

Like most things though, they are better live with a sense of place rather than on youtube!
