Hi,
this is an accordion brand from Brazil. It looks a rebadged Italian, does it not?
Does anyone have an idea what it might be?
http://www.pampiana.com.br/index.php?pag=acordeoes
This Pampiana chromatic accordion costs about €5,000 NEW, as far as I can ascertain.
Thanks

There are firms such as Guilietti making accordions in South America.

I see this at another Brazilian site - http://www.casadagaitaponto.com.br/interna.php?cod=12325[/url], where they inventory different models in the Pampiana line, and for each state 100% fabricada na ITALIA.

And a quote from evidently the founder explains

... which implies they might be made to specifications, not just rebadged.

[edit]
To follow up with a couple lines that I believe are made in Brazil -

http://www.leticce.com.br/ (some with Italian voices (= reeds?))

http://www.sanzovoacordeons.com.br/ (also produced accordions for Scandalli and Paolo Soprani)

Chromatic and diatonic, but I didnt see any chromatic button - possibly even less common in south and central america than in the US.

I've never seen a Brazilian play a chromatic accordion, although I don't know much about accordions in Brazil.

However, these accordions are imported to Porto Alegre in Brasil/Brazil, from Italy, and are re-badged Piermarias. If you check the grilles you'll see that they are Piermaria.

The owner of Pampiana accordions is Jose Franco Garcez, who apparently also re-exports them as well as accordion parts to other countries in the Southern Hemisphere. Including Australia?

The CBA pictured should be something approaching the general high Piermaria standard, so there should be no fears about quality.

Hi all,

yes thanks for the info, it's interesting.

Maugein96: you're right, the chromatic button accordion is effectively unknown in Brazil - I met some Brazilian accordionists at a folk festival in Australia who had never seen one before.
