Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good sized android tablet model for viewing sheet music please? I'm completely Google at work so it's very familar and don't want to get into appley stuff ideally.

Many thanks.

I'd imagine that anything with a decent-sized screen and enough memory to hold your collection should do the trick. Speed wouldn't really be much of an issue. After that it would come down to what other niceties you wanted (stylus support for marking up scores, good cameras for taking/giving online lessons, a real headphone jack, etc.)

FWIW, you can do Googly things on an iPad. Things like Gmail, Google Docs, etc. aren't on there by default, but it's no biggie to download them. (That's what I do on mine. Everything syncs up with the Googleverse just fine.)

I’m sure you don’t want to hear that iPad is the best way to go, but if you do consider that, ForScore is the best app for sheet music. Not sure if they have an android version.

I have been very happy with my Kindle Fire HD 10. I use the MobileSheets android app. The app allows easy import of .pdf from a micro SD card or downloads from Google Drive. The Kindle works really well with bluetooth page turning pedals. I use the Donner bluetooth pedal, and I recommend it.

Thanks so much for these answers. The Kindle fire option is attractive, not least as it's very cheap! Thank you

I think that the Galaxt Tab 6 is the biggest that Android currently offers at 9.6", and though I ma NOT an Apple kind of person either, when I do decide to go that route, the iPad Pro at 12.9 inches is where I am aiming for. The reason being is that this is almost the size of a full sheet of music and easiest to see. Overpriced? Yeah, thats an understantement... but its pretty much the best out there for that.

I wish Samsung woke up and made a 13" tablet. I know they have the Galaxy View (at 18 inches?) but I don't know anyone that's used them successsfully for music sheet viewer and FR-8X and BK-7m controller.

Not cheap though but looks like paper rather than a glowing tablet.

Will need to ask Santa!
I didnt see any mention of the ability to record yourself, which can be helpful when practicing. Is that available?

Wow... at that price, it is actually cheaper to get an iPad Pro.

Yes I agree - its too expensive. I might try my chromebook for a bit with a stylus before splashing out!

I must say, if you tune down the blue colors in your screen, it gets easier on the eyes. I have tried sight playing close to an hour once, and it was horrible, especially as I have contact lenses. Electronic ink screens should be way more comfortable I guess.

I have the Galaxy Tab A 2019, and its too small anyway for sheet reading other than simple tunes. Even then, I find myself often turning to landscape mode. For shorthand tabs its perfect, also combining it with stylus for quick notes. Its also easy to toss in the sidepocket of my backpack even the 48 bass ones.

I might switch to a 2in1 foldable touch laptop in the future, like one of the cheaper 14 inch Lenovos. Only when this has all the technical apps I need.
