8 Week Sight Reading Challenge, Oct. 2021

I've been fishing with my son lately and enjoy the fishing shows. While searching for a new one, I came across Fisherman's Friend. Haven't watched it yet.

Anyhoo...I've been reading slowly but continuously. I'm making progress, but I haven't tried anything too complex.

Looks like it could be interesting, might try watching it. Playing the tune was difficult as usual but I'm sticking with the challenge so far so good.
I watched the movie and enjoyed it very much. It's based on a true story and the music is done well although can't remember if there are many accordions featured there; diatonic or chromatic.

On to week 3, hanging in there, progress is slow, if at all, glad there is no time requirement as week 2 was very busy. ?

I have just had a bash through, with the accordion, of some Balkan tunes that I am learning on the mandola. Not that I would want anyone to listen, but I am pleasantly surprised. Muro Shavo, which is in A was a bit of a struggle, at least until I worked out when to switch fingers on the same note, but the others, in flat keys, seemed to come under the fingers pretty well.

Since I am havering over whether he next accordion shoudl be a piano or a button, I also had a go on the button accordion app I have on my tablet. Muro Shavo was probably easier, mainly because I haven't played that much on the black keys yet on the PA, the others were harder.

I fell away from reading for a few days, but want to pick it back up. There are a number of new tunes that I want to learn, so I'll just open them up and leave them on my stand. Don't have to read the whole thing through at tempo, so hopefully I can learn a new tune or two.

I'm keeping at it, although have missed a couple of days.

I've been trying to sight read for some time now to broaden my musical horizons. Even though I'm still working from home I find it to be a de-stresser for me, I can't speak for others within earshot.

Pretty much failed this challenge, too much going on for a daily activity. Hope everyone made some progress!

I've been touching on it a little here and there, but in 2022 this is going to be very much at least an every second day thing for me. I have noticed a small positive increase in speed from what I see going in to my head and coming out the fingers.
