[Decbox]

Hi everyone!
Just wondering if anyone can give me a rough guess as to the age of this accordion. Its being offered to me at small money. Needs some new valves but I have them in stock.
It seems a very well built instrument but it has metal bellows fasteners which I always associated with older accordions. I'd appreciate any advice or history of the Marinucci company. It's a LMMM and is stamped Made in Italy Mod M/15.

Judging by the shape of the couplers, the material of the grill and the attachment of it by means of thumb screws I would guess it's from the late fifties to early 1960's?

Yes, in my opinion, a product of "the golden age", when they had the materials, the craftspeople, the bean counters hadn't taken over yet, quality and longevity still mattered and China was some mythical place way around the other side of the world!?

This one is going to need a lot more work than is first evident. Besides the missing buttons and what looks like a bullet hole (lol), it looks really banged up and well scratched up and for sure an accordion this well aged is going to likely need a lot of work inside on the leathers and a good tuning.

Not really. It's tuning is OK and only about 8 leathers need replacing. Also the flash on my camera makes the scratches look worse than they are. The bullet hole is actually a screw.
The missing buttons might be difficult to source. It sounds well but a bit muted overall.

The buttons are actually the easiest to source.
Worst case scenario, replace them all if you cannot find exact matches.

I never thought of that. It would be worst case scenario but an option nonetheless. Thanks for that!!

Nice restauration project! Well worth fixing if the asking price is reasonable.
