If you are out there, & haven’t introduced yourself, please do so, we need to readdress the balance!

I feel outnumbered; surely accordion playing & participating in this friendly site should not be just a domain for the men folk?

Come on girls, show a bit of muscle!!!

It may be true on this board that men outnumber women, but that is certainly not true in the real world. So it may just be an issue with discussion boards about more or less gender-neutral topics like accordion.
I play in a number of accordion ensembles, ranging from quintet (two quintets, each of 2 men and 3 women), octet with conductor (4 men and 5 women) to large orchestra, with an even larger majority of women. So the accordion world is definitely not dominated by men. In accordion repair it's a different story...

I think Paul is right. “In the real world” there is more balance between the genders. It is indeed most likely to be the attractiveness of communicating via a forum is less appealing to one half of the population correlated to gender. I’m not sure why this should be in view of the uptake of Facebook and Instagram and YouTube by all genders.
By the way, of the two serious accordion teachers I’ve had these past 10 years both were female.

Not me! I started in an accordion group (over 50 players) that was an initiative of a grade school teacher in an all-boys school (where he also gave accordion lessons). Needless to say the number of girls/women in that group was rather limited, consisting mostly of relatives of pupils of the school. Fast forward 40 years... and the group was down to 6 members: 4 men, 2 women, so the women never caught up...

When I started the local accordion club it was about half and half, so yeah, the women are out there. I also participate in another accordion online forum which also has more women represented. So, it's a good question.

Btw, you do look very Happy, and I can see that that big Bugari could be a challenge... Good luck with your playing, and all your projects!

Women in my country started an Online Orchestra called OPMA (Plurinational Women's Accordion Orchestra)
You can find them on instagram as @Opma.orquesta they are accepting new members worldwide until 19th january!

I think forums are somewhat boring to women nowdays... they all prefer facebook, instagram and youtube.

Perhaps women spend more time practicing than blogging :sneaky:
In my experience the percentage of accordion-playing men and women whose accordion case is automatically locked the whole time the accordion is at home is about the same. I have offered to fix these accordion cases but nobody has taken me up on that offer, no men and no women. So if women spend less time blogging, they do not use that time to practice more (in general).
