Where Are All the Teachers?!

I'm planning to retire in a year or two and will then teach. I like kids, well not toddlers LOL, but from around 7 on up which is when I started. My wife and I plan to sell our house in Southern California and move ANYWHERE else. Then have a small amount of students. I really want to avoid all of the online classes. They're better than no instruction at all but pale in comparison to being in front of the teacher.
Move to Kansas City :D

I absolutely agree on being with an actual teacher, but there's literally no one where I am. I could drive 4 hours for a lesson each way, but that's a lot for one hour. Sadly for the people of Portland, at some point in the far future, I might end up the one who will give beginner diatonic lessons.
Not that I would expect anyone to do it today, but once a week, we drove 6+ hours each way (Montreal to Toronto), for a 2 hour lesson at the Toronto conservatory and did that for years.

Today that would be ridiculous to even consider doing this.

If you can find a good instructor, even if it is a zoom session, this can be better than no guidance at all.

On Long Island, suburbs of New York City, there are many people who claim to be able teach piano-accordion because they know piano/keyboard but only a handful of working piano-accordionists who teach and among them, only one who will take on beginners.

CBA and DBA? Forget it!

A wonderful city, my daughter lived there, but so hot and couldn’t find much accordion action. Pretty good for blues and ribs though!
You only have to stay inside in July/Aug! My fave temps are 15-60! You could help start the accordion action back up ;)

That would be fun! Is there a hidden accordion scene in Kansas City?
