What to do with old gear?

So I'm selling of some old gear, but I'm stuck with this piece and nobody wants it for free either.

It's an old Peavey MD12 mixing desk with case. The thing is huge, and heavy.

Still in working condition, so reluctant to throw it in the dumpster.

So what to do with it?

• Disassemble and sell for parts?
• Convert to coffee table?

Creative ideas welcome!

eBay is your friend - I'm sure someone would have it. The flight case alone would be worth something.

Have you tried Craigslist? I've had some luck with posting larger items that would be too costly to ship. I've also donated to Goodwill or other thrift stores.

even nice equipment cases have been begging for buyers here in the USA

my suggestion would be to see if there is some small local organization
trying to improve an area of town with events and local musicians..
many focus on a square and have regular shows and open mic nights

they often set up an area with older equipment but usually cannot afford
much of anything really nice, so your mixer would be a boon for them

of course with Covid, things are quiet now, but these groups will
return to activity

Pity as it looks to be in good condition and could be pretty useful in the right situation (and if your back is up to lifting it most likely)

Wow, that takes me back. My very first paying gigs were with a cover band in the '80s that used a Peavey mixing board just like that. Heavy, but not as heavy as the rack of Peavey power amps we also hauled around to go with it.

Anyway, apart from eBay, Craiglist, etc., have you tried Reverb.com? Not sure if that's a US-only thing or not.

If all else fails, there might be a non-profit you could donate it to (church, school, etc.)

It's been listed on the dutch ebay for 2 months now

I'm unsure if covid blocks the right people from buying at the moment, could be

So i was thinking along the lines of donating but there are no takers. Furthermore in this town I myself am that small organization for helping musicians and it's me cleaning house

This mixer became obsolete when I recently restored an analog soundcraft board with the same amount of ins and outs but at about 20% if the size of the Peavey. So now that is my backup mixer.

The only thing I could think of was converting the flightcase into a foldable table. That is always nice for outdoor events and such.
