I don't think there is anything 'amature' about the way you play, @Piotr. You are a professional level accordionist. :)

Amateur originally meant that a person was a lover of the topic under discussion and professional that someone was trained, competent and was worthy of being paid for their efforts.
Hence an amateur was held in higher regard as being above someone working for ‘filthy lucre’.
But, such is the mutability of language.
