Hi Everyone!
I recently purchased this lightweight 48 bass accordion on EBay for $60 from a Goodwill store in Baltimore, Maryland. To my delight, everything works, and it is a joy to play. It has no brand name, and the only writing is 'Made in Italy' NO B 9748, written on the back. It came in a nice old case with some ancient, deteriorated straps (which I replaced). It has a boxy design and trim styling that makes me think it is perhaps from the 30s.
Any information, or even thoughts and/or speculation about the origins and age of this instrument would be most appreciated.
Thanks!
Heather

well the bass strap adjuster does date it as likely
just before WW2, and that it is black rather than
an art case vaudeville look, or some soldier could have
brought it back with him after the War

there were not a lot of companies marketing to the USA
and mostly they sold through the New York shops who were
sometimes offshoots of their Italian Family/factory, and so had a
known name, but many were rather anonymous as they ordered
accordions without any name then added one here
in rhinestones or such

very unusual that it survived in playable condition, and even
made it through shipping !

would check inside for cracked reedwax as soon as possible

enjoy !

Welcome Heather!
