It's a fascinating instrument indeed. And sometimes used without people realizing it. For instance: the theremin is used in the tune of the TV series Midsomer Murders.
Astonishing to realise the Theremin was invented in 1920: just over 100 years ago !?
This makes it the first electronic instrument invented, preceding the solid bodied electric guitar by a decade ? (The Theremin in action)
I had the pleasure of sitting on the same table as Frank and his wife and Carl Fortuna at the Las Vegas convention a few years ago he told us he was recommended for the recording session by the Carl Fortuna a very well established accordionist and session studio recording Artist accredited with approx 1000 recording sessions for films and music . Carl was on the recording session and Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys said he felt it needed an extra accordion ...and could he recommend anyone ......he said I'll contact Frank Marocco which he did .
Carl joked and said he was still waiting the arrival of his commission for getting Frank the gig !!! wonderful memories of two great accordionist's and warm friendly kind people and sociable .......
I live in the "Badger State," but have never seen this!!!! So called because back in the day, the lead miners who burrowed into the hills were called "badgers," let's just say they brought their "cheeseboxes" (diatonic button accordions) from the old country and made jolly music all night by the campfire. Though few theremins I suspect.
