The world is so full of a number of things. I'm sure we should all be as happy as kings.

To read or to play by ear is a respectable choice. To play without soul is reprehensible.

put 4 prima-vista players with sheet in a room and 4 play-by-ear in another room with an mp3 player

who will reach acceptable playthrough first?

Readers will play first. Earers will remember more of the song tomorrow (maybe). 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

I know i know i'm not really fanatic about it, but

By coincidence I played this tune yesterdag evening, with singers

They called tunes and I accompanied them. Half of them was prima vista. Tavern maybe second playthrough for me. This way we ran through ca. 30 songs one after the other. By ear? different story

Cool!  Next up is Praha Polka in G.  I like it.

A few other tavern tunes and trad tunes.

Perhaps James C. Morrison meant If there werent any married women in the world  ;)

Interesting, thanks Stephen.  More tunes for that long awaited day when I have so much time on my hands.  .
