You dont say where in the world you are but there is a place here in the USA called https://www.petosa.com/product-category/accordion-shoulder-straps/ that sells this product that attached with velco. https://www.murlallensanders.com/murlstrap.html. Works well and is easy to attach and detach.

I was rereading this thread yesterday and discovered the Neotech ones are available on Amazon.

Im fairly sure I dont have my existing straps adjusted properly and was thinking the backstrap might help,
but I would have the same problem fixing it.


Im guessing Wirral Accordion might be in the UK

I have those Neotech straps and, indeed, they are nice. The back strap part, unfortunately, suffers from that same problem. My body just doesn’t bend sufficiently, if it ever did, to fastener or unfasten them easily.

Please, do yourselves a favor, check out accordionbackstraps.com. They fit lower on any existing straps and therefore can be reached easily. (No affiliation here, I've just tried everything and they are the best. Your results may vary.)

Never do I unfasten the back strap on my NeoTech Accordion Harness. It has a buckle that I can fasten/unfasten at the bottom of the accordion. Ymmv.

If you can reach behind your back and grab one hand with the other, you can use these straps. Just ask Elena to make one with the straps equal length so the clasp is in the middle. Also measure how long it has to be to have some extra length if you need it. She's very agreeable to modifying the straps. And from your photo, it looks like one of the problems is that the straps are too low for you to reach. These straps can be put any place on your main shoulder straps.

Another recommendation for Elena would be to (in addition to making the left strap longer) make both sides of the straps adjustable. In this way the straps could be set higher and still be reached. If the left side were consequently too long, it could be adjusted. The straps could also be made of a more cloth like, cotton material. The current material, especially the wide ones that I have can slip on the shoulder strap, if they happen to loosen. All in all, though, I wish her success.

The photo illustrates nicely the reason I have the Neotech WITHOUT the backstrap.

Instead I use a seperate backstrap (cloth/plastic) that loops around the whole of the shoulder straps. Due to it's length it can be clipped in very low and then slid upwards to where it "wants" to sit, then tightened with one hand.

The way Im reading the Neotech page (https://neotechstraps.com/accordion-harness.html) theres 4 versions,
and the one without the backstrap is the Mega.

Does anybody know if the Neotech backstrap can be removed on the other three models ?
Obviously you could cut it off, but I was thinking of something less permanent

My belief is the accordion should be played in a sitting position , however there are those who have no problem playing while standing. Hats off to them.

Good one, Iandro. There is no teacher near me, so when I started playing, that article was very helpful.
I could barely stand to play for 20 minutes before I figured out how to wear the thing.
Another topic covered in an earlier post was whether to wear a small accordion lower so you can rest it on your knee, or higher. It kind of looks like Wirralaccordion is playing a smaller accordion with the straps really short so that it’s up higher. That might be making the backstrap hard to fasten.
My explanation of Elena’s straps is confusing. The main modifications I made were equal length and longer so I could easily reach the clasp to fasten it, then pull it tight.

No need to cut the NeoTech backstrap off, it can be removed, easily ...
But I can't understand why I should remove it, I never touch it ...
As said in this same thread, I never need to fasten/unfasten the backstrap ...

I wasn't trying to confuse anybody.

I understood your point about leaving the backstrap in place while putting on / removing the harness.
I assumed using the bottom fixing without undoing the backstrap first was the point of Neotech being mentioned in this thread.

Jozz is pointing out he uses it a different way.

So if I get the 'Original' version I can try using it with the backstrap done up all the time.
And if I don't like that for some reason I can try fitting a different backstrap.

Sounds like it's probably worth a try

Edit:  Something similar with the quick release at the top would be interesting ...

I did not trust the front fasteners / quickrelease type enough because the clasps seem fairly small to carry a accordion playing standing and jumping around (or picking one up at the shoulder straps), let alone straps with the quick release at the top. Not really 'road-worthy'.
