20.00 hrs, SATURDAY 16th of SEPTEMBER, 2017. Old Courts, King Street West, Wigan. Tickets £5 on the door.

Jon Brindley will be headlining this musical event, supported by "Chonkin' Fettle", Pauline Blackburn, and others.

Jon will, at some point, be playing his Bugari, which is something not to be missed. I was at his home yesterday afternoon, and he had a little practice on my 120 Hohner.

Pauline was in good voice yesterday evening, and I can guarantee that her clear and powerful voice will be a real hit on Saturday.

"Chonkin' Fettle" will sing songs in the local dialect ........ some touching ...... some funny.

These people are brilliant musicians but, much more than that, they are my friends.

Come if you can ........ PM for directions.

Stephen.

We have just returned from our great musical extravaganza, and I am going to find it difficult to describe the event without using superlatives.

All the "artistes" were terrific, but Pauline Blackburn and Jon Brindley absolutely nailed it. Jon was on fire, playing accordion, fiddle and guitar with panache.

Though I didn't know it at the time I first posted this thread, this event is to become a monthly occurrence. It is a "not for profit" event, the proceeds being donated to local arts and live music events.

I will post details of the next event when I am given the information.

Kind Regards,

Stephen.

Hi Jerry,

Sorry, old chap, I'm not very good with technical stuff. I wish that I could post photographs or videos of this event, as they would clearly demonstrate the superb quality of the music.

I am in the extremely fortunate position of being able to listen to Pauline Blackburn every week at the Folk Club. Jon Brindley is a good friend of mine, and I have visited his home on very many occasions. Jon's music room/recording studio is a sight to behold, with instruments piled up from floor to ceiling. It would be easier to list the instruments he can't play, rather than attempt to list those he can play.

YouTube would be a good place for you to listen to either Pauline or Jon. Try the following:

"Pauline Blackburn" YouTube.
"Little Miss P" YouTube.
"Little Miss P and The Projects" YouTube.
"Jon Brindley" YouTube.
"Jon Brindley & The Avon Men" YouTube.

You can refine your search by including the word "accordion" in your search for Jon's music.

Kind Regards,

Stephen.

EDIT: Also try Pauline Blackburn at 2011 Crooke Folk Festival..... and ..... Pauline Blackburn at Digger's Festival 2017. all on YouTube.
