Hello everyone!
I am from Mexico, I had been wanting an accordion for a very long time, but in LatinAmerica they are quite expensive since are widely used in Norteño, TexMex, Cumbia, Vallenato and Folk music, but last night a local musician offered to give me an old Video Pancordion NM 120 (like this one , but has the original front voices? It’s in excellent conditions) for my old Kala soprano ukulele + a Kaossilator 1, so that would be around $130-$144dlls, the guy also had an Accordiana Excelsior but was in awful physical conditions and would only take $150dlls for it, not trade.

I think it was a sweet deal for me.

I play the melodica and used to play organ, so I have an idea of how to use my right hand, but I’m kind of lost with the left hand. I watched this video and stayed late night practicing, you guys think is a good tutorial to get started while I find an instructor?

Any advice is welcome and thanks in advance!

Sounds like a great deal to me! Welcome to the forum.

Well, he sure doesnt rush through it.

At about 10 minutes into the 2nd video (), he has you doing the very same C waltz pattern I suggested to someone else this morning, so I guess Im quite the instructor myself.

One thing thats going to grate on some of us a little, I think, is that he uses the middle finger for bass and index finger for major chord. So do I, so I cant really be too hard on him, but if I remember right, some people here have strong and inflexible opinions about this, and for them you must use ring finger for bass and middle for major chord.

Check out these video’s..

Here’s a link to lesson one, of 41.

Just play regularly and you'll get the hang of the bass before long. Welcome!

I think both have their uses ....as a recent convert to the 4:3:2 method from 3:2 I will never say that 3:2 is bad and it really has its uses .......heck if I did not fire off on 3:2 my box would still be in its box !

Hullo and welcome Mexico

That sounds like a good deal and a nice looking accordion. I did quite a bit of drinking with a Mexican post grad. student at college after the studios closed at night and after a long day. We used to laugh a lot and we needed to sometimes. Look forward to the Mexican influence. Best wishes from Scotland.

Thank you all for your advice and warm welcome!
