Anyone familar with Musictech Digital accordions as to quality and sound etc. ?

Hi Dave,
Musictech are well known as makers of good quality midi kits for accordions. They are also used by some Italian accordion companies to fit midi to their new instruments.
Their own accordions are lightweight reedless (electronic only) instruments, I assume they buy in the wooden traditional style accordion bodies & fit their electronics & sounds software inside.
Apart from the 'built in' sounds, which include electronically reproduced (sampled) accordion sounds & orchestral sounds, they can be coupled to any midi sound module to play auto rhythm styles & extra sounds.
An alternative to the Roland V Accordion range.
Their electronic midi components have a good reputation for reliability.

I've been looking at these on the internet and on youtube, they sound ready good at first glance, and 11lbs is appealing. Has anyone on the forum played one?
I'm wondering what your take is on these Jim D?

Musictech retrofit midi units have been around for some 20 years now and many accordion brands have offered models in their line these units factory installed. Later Limex started offering their units that are similar but have more bells and whistles. These units and their reedless models require a separate amplification unit to work and since the "V" accordions have come on the market their popularity is waning. I have seen many classic acoustic accordions such as Excelsior, Titano, Bell, Sano and Giulietti that have been chopped up and defaced with these units installed and their original value reduced. Buying a used accordion for a fair price with a Musictech or Limex system installed is not a bad choice but make sure you can repair them yourself or have a dealer or repair shop local to you. Installing a new Musictech or Limex system and buying an amplifier is costly and a pre- owned "V' accordion can be had for less money and your acoustic accordion can be left in their classic form and value intact. Musically yours; JIM D.
