That looks fantastic! I've been trying to find a replacement for my wooden stool that seems to get harder the older I get!

I have one, but stopped using it since I found this:
I've been using a K & M which I purchased on Amazon. I like it better, as it is adjustable to a higher height than drum saddles. I find drum saddles are like sitting on a kitchen chair.
I looked on Amazon UK, but this saddle doesn't appear to be available. Also, I bot mine about 3 years ago and only paid slightly more than $ 200. I cannot believe how much it has gone up. That being said, I really like the height, saddle comfort and construction quality.

was my preference during my years of drumming, then sold it
for accordion, I generally sit on whatever is available, but still like these spindle type padded seats
lot of my drum hardware is/was Gibraltar and they are OK

not saying you, Jazz, but your comment reminded me that
newbies do need to learn/hear what seems obvious to Pro's,
(though we had to learn it too)
every time you "borrow" a chair or barstool from a venue,
you deprive them of revenue because a customer can no longer
fill that seat
oh it may seem like a small thing on the surface, but this is why
we bring our own stools,, chairs, extension cords, etc. out of consideration
for the place of business, and the business they need to do to stay in business

At home, I use an antique bent-wood and turnery piano stool (I found in an antiques shop) with a circular seat that screws up or down (on a large metal screw) to adjust the height. I find the backs of chairs intrusive.
I must admit to using whatever seating has been available at a venue, not that I play out often, hardly ever in fact.

Much would depend on:
a. what is meant by 'borrow' - temporary use or theft and
b. whether the business is employing you or/and gaining advtange by your presence.
Theft is theft not "souveniring" as we were once inclined to call the unauthorised removal of items from pubs, bars, clubs and the like.
"Borrowing" for use other than the use of someone elses property without their consent in a manner which they are unlikely to approve might be called "temporary theft".
If you are playing at a venue whose operators are paying you and/or gaining some benefit in cash or kind then some kind of agreement about the use of their gear should be agreed by both parties prior to appearance.
As an erstwhile business proprietor, I have little sympathy for those operate 'on a shoestring' unless they are providing some tangible public benefit; too often they cry poor while they pay themselves handsomely in some form or other.
If you cannot conduct your business affairs in a sustainable manner, then get out of the business and out of the way of people running similar businesses successfully.
Business is business.
Public benefit operations excepted.

I've of course sat on a standard chair and a drum chair, no real advantage to either except for perhaps a bit more padding than a standard chair. The real advantage to a "raised" throne like Ed's (I've actually sat in Ed's chair once like visiting a while back), is that it is both a lot taller and has a raised support for the left leg, offering superior ergonomics and control of your accordion.
I use a taller chair with left foot support when making my videos it's just more effective and comfortable, but practice using a standard dining room chair, but I sometimes use a block of (material covered) 4X4 inch of wood for the support when playing the Free Bass Morino, but not with any of my other accordions.
Basically it's all about using the right tool for the right job or catering to your personal preference.

I have been on the lookout for the perfect chair. I generally use an old dining room chair and it works for me. Petosa has a cool Roc-n-Soc stool on their site, but it's always sold out. It doesn't fold, so I don't know how portable it is, but I'd love to try it out at home.

ages ago i could buy wholesale from MusicCorp, and
got a Hydraulic (moto style seat) drummers stool from them for
gigging with the 960/Midi.. used it for a long long time
and the hydraulic cushioning feature was a godsend,
as well as having better Height adjustment than most
firmly fixed scizzored Drum Thrones
also picked up an extra moto-seat top once and screwed
it onto a tubular Stool frame from the local Restaurant Supply store...
i thought the directionality of the seat might work well
at stool height, but was wrong, and found i preferred a
round-top stool with well placed lower rings to hook
ones Bootheels.. kept sliding off the high stool Moto seat !
lucked out and found 6 nice welded thin steel rod bar-stools
and re-upholstered the seats and have been using them ever since..
down to the last 2 as some broke and one got ran over
in the Studio i just have a really nice, plush, oversize Hydraulic Office
chair i removed the back from
(like Dingo i dislike having a chairback)
but i usually sit across the corner so in a way it is like a Moto-seat
a moto-style seat can work if it suits you for feel and comfort,

and stitched, sometimes in Leather, and i very much recommend

have one old claw-foot spin-up antique Piano stool like Dingo described..
it is neat looking with the round glass balls in the claws and
the amazing wood grain on the thick round seat.. but i only
use it for casual Living Room gigs over the Christmas holidays as it
is not comfortable over a long period, but it looks the part so well
coupled with a Cardigan Sweater and a Perry Como setlist

I've decided against getting the motorcycle seat type after reading several unhappy folk sliding forward and also that their backrest was not forward/rear adjustable. I know that these issues can be resolved but I'm sticking with my adjustable height piano stool.
Just as an aside, when I purchased my seat, I was advised not to buy the one w/the leather covering just for that reason. It was suggested that I purchase the model with the fabric covering. I still slide a bit, but the seat on mine has an adjustable level so I can point the front of the seat down or up(ouch!). Level is usually best and I don't slide much.

Several years ago I won a pair of bar stools which are taller than dining chair but not quite as tall as a standard height stool. These are suitable for sitting at a standard kitchen counter. They're padded and I use them for practice at home because the added height makes them comfortable but I can also reach peddles when using them. As for adjustability, since I reached my adult height in the 1970's, once I found a size that suits me, don't see the need to mess with things.

I remember Benny Hill making much fun of unintentional noises arising from leather-covered seating being picked up by the microphone: a bit more intrusive than pallet rattle!

I generally am not at venues where customers have seats, but I appreciate your sentiment towards (small-scale) promotors
if they cannot fulfill the rider with a set of barstools but they still sorted my M&M's... it's all good

UPDATE: Well, I tried to save some $$$ and went with the starfavor. Still holding up after 6 months but a little wobbly and squeaky.
