MIDI software to recognize chords

Not really related to accordion, but I'd like to ask for your help anyway.

A friend of mine has a high-end electronic piano (Roland KR-107). It has this feature: when the user simultaneously hits a few notes on the keyboard (e.g. G, B, D, F), the LCD screen will display the name of the chord (e.g. G Maj 7).

She also has a basic keyboard connected to a laptop via MIDI. She needs to simulate the above capability.

This sounds technically simple, but I can't find this feature listed in any piece of music software.

Roland not only invented MiDi but also developed the feature called Musical Intelligence. Most of the musical instrument firms employ this feature today with the exception of Yamaha. Musical intelligence is unique as it can identify a chord when only 2 or 3 notes of the chord are played. It is a necessary feature when an accordion is used with a MiDi expander or keyboard as the accordion stradella system only uses 3 notes of a chord. Musical intelligence will identify the root with the note 3 steps above played together as a major chord - root and 3 &1/2 steps above as a minor chord - root and 1& 1/2 steps below as a seventh chord - and root and 4&1/2 steps above as a Dim chord. When using musical software make sure it contains the musical intelligence feature. JIM D.

I think "band in a box" and "Cubase" both have this feature.
I would imagine there is some freeware somewhere that will do it as well.

I havent tested it with an electronic piano, but the demo version of the software works pretty well with my Roland FR-1xb.

Edit to add: if you plan to buy it, download the demo version and make sure that it works on the intended computer. I tried the demo on 2 desktops running Win7 before buying it. But the software doesnt run on an HP Envy 15 laptop, also running Win7 (I didnt have the laptop on hand for testing). I ended up running the software on an old Toshiba laptop running WinXP SP3.

Also, tech support is non-existent. I wrote to them twice asking about the compatibility with HP Envy 15. It was a week ago and there was still no reply.
