Look Ma, no basses!๐Ÿ˜„

I like it. Dingo scores another winner. Would certainly solve my persistent left/right hand coordination problem! Super light weight, too. Couldn't make out the manufacturer in the vid but looks like a C-System CBA to me.

It looks like accordions without basses should be ideal for use in accordion ensembles/orchestras where the bass side is rarely or even never used. It would make a hugely expensive hobby a bit less extremely expensive. But... an accordion without basses is at least unbalanced because the lefthand side weighs close to nothing. It takes time and effort to get used to a very lightweight lefthand side. Shortly after getting my Hohner Artiste X S accordion (18kg with heavy lefthand side with melody bass) I tried to make it lighter by removing the bass blocks. It felt strangely unbalanced and I ended up putting the blocks back in. My main instrument today is the bass accordion, which also has an empty lefthand side, and by now I have gotten used to that, but it is still very difficult to do a bellows shake with that weightless lefthand side, and ricochet is completely out of the question (but fortunately rarely ever needed with a bass accordion).

The Harmony Musical Workshop has a bunch of older 3 row B system boxes for sale - they list them as Monophone's. I have one, it's a fun little instrument to plink around on for someone with no CBA experience. Definitely weirder to wield with no bass weight but then again the whole thing feels weird being so small.

This instrument is typical of those who play โ€œfiluzzi bolognese,โ€ an interpretation of Liscio typical of Bologna. Ruggero is excellent. Another good one is Massimo Budriesi, who plays a Stocco accordion (Stradella). A couple of years ago or so, I โ€œput in touchโ€ Nick, a member of our forum, with Giuseppe di Stocco. Nick had an accordion made by Stocco just like Massimo's.

When I play my accordion, I like to do something with my left hand. With, my 8X, I'm sure I could get an Orchestral Bass & Chord to sound as good, if not better. With my Excelsior, I can also do a Left hand bass. However, I don't have the large selection of tones/sounds that are available on the 8X.

"Horses for courses" every time.

Determining what and how one wants to make music is the primary determinant.
Even more primary dear Finger, is whether one wants to make music. Even with a room full of accordions.

Yeah!
I took that as a given.
Erronious of course; in the same vein as the art collector who keeps all the artwork in a sealed bunker and never goes down there ;)
