I pull a Gola and Morino without much effort, I definitely can strain my 8X when needed, never had issues with mine, and... don't tell anyone... when I first got mine, it was so new that pulling it was HARD, so I hung it from the straps on a door knob overnight to stretch it out a bit... LOLThat's bad news for me. There's another video out there with very few views of a guy that's Fisa is always jumping to Register 13 when he selects any bassoon register, or something like that. If he selects Register 2 and starts playing it will jump to Register 13 all on it's own within a minute.
I play my FR-8X unbelievably enthusiastically. Not like some others that barely move the bellows or use light bellows curves. In 10 years it's never had an issue. I sure hope this is a one-off but from Paul's comments I agree that the method for joining looks very flimsy.
Linda is all of what 135-150 pounds? I doubt she even uses strength that strains any accordion, digital or otherwise.. lolLinda’s a serious golfer from what I’ve seen of her posts. How that figures into the broken Korg is anyone’s guess …![]()
Yeah, I noticed that. In 100% fairness, what Ventura said about the 8X is very true, they screw things right in to the polycarbonate case, seems the Fisa does it too, but they really placed the holes too close to the edge and caused a POTENTIAL weak point. Where it can get serious is if you take it apart and together as little as 2 times, the screws DEFINITELY get looser and that has to be addressed. I did it using loctite, but if I ever do it again, a weaker form of epoxy is what I am going to use! Those small plastic pieces with small screws won’t hold much I’m shocked to see that holding the left side to the right - imagine people doing bellow shakes and a little twisting and that looks like a disaster waiting to happen or in Linda’s case has already happened
If you are still considering on getting one, I'd suggest maybe waiting to see what the official news from KORG is about this, but don't let it bother you too much, or if you have one on order... don't stress over it. I see it more as teething pains rather than anything much more. Now if over the next month, we see this happen 50 more times... THAT is when I would say it is serious.
