I'm booking a couple of shows for a theater this year and I want to incorporate some accordion. Therefor, I need ideas for an accordion program, small-scale: no orchestra's. It might have a modern twist to it,

So: what would you buy a ticket for these days?

(band names, video's of shows etc. much appreciated)

I must admit that whether I buy a ticket depends entirely on the performer(s) these days. Last ticket I bought was Jon Batiste (melodica) even though the venue was not the greatest. When I see an accordionist (or any other) show advertised in my area I always first check their YouTube videos to make sure it meets my preferences.

So, I would recommend analyzing your prospective audience preferences. Would they like more jazz or traditional Irish dance tunes? Is there a prominent act in your locale and budget that all your friends, and audience loves? Book ‘em Danno!

I am reminded of the Russian team that have a YouTube channel called 2makers. Their rendition of Coldplay’s “Hymn for the weekend” or Avicii - “Wake Me Up”. I would buy a ticket to see them if they were anywhere within 300km of me.

I’d love to go watch someone like our own Emam (and have a couple times now). His playing is awesome, varied and draws people in.

The Concertino Band is great. Several accordions, a violin, double base, piano...

The AKKO Quartet is also phenomenal. (4 accordions with some special (timbre) instruments included)

Closer to home there is the Sexteto Recuerdo with Leo van Lierop as accordion and bandoneon player. Demo video at https://www.youtube.com/@sextetorecuerdo9868/videos
If you think all of these may be too large and/or expensive I can suggest a very good amateur band as well...
