Idea for WIDI ?

Like probably quite a few of you, I have the Widi Jack, ....I use it with my SD 40 arranger, and a Roland accordion.
Simple enough, I use a piece of double sided tape to affix it to the bottom of my accordion. it's pretty much invisible, and It works super EXCEPT...if I want to use another accordion, I need to go through the tedious process of removing it and affixing it to my other " accordion of the day " I wonder if there would be someone who can make or does make a clip type
holder that you affix to the accordion, and then the WIDI jack just snaps in and out ?

You are probably asking yourself, why not just use another WIDI JACK ? The issue for me, is that this isn't or hasn't been particularly successful .
It seems there's always a glitch of some sort, and I'm sweating bullets because ten minutes before a job, I am fighting with the widi, so I end up using a cable.
kinda defeats the purpose of my otherwise " totally wireless system " .

I just use a WIDI Master... takes 5-10 seconds on a bad day to swap out to another box when needed. For WIDI Jack, why not use the simplest answer that is both reliable and cheap? Velcro, industrial velctro if you want things a little more permanent.

The issue with the widi master is that it sticks out a long way,, and it’s prone to being bumped more than the jack.
Mine is mounted where it is pretty much protected when I slip the accordion off, and put it down on its feetsies….my boxes get used very often out away from the house….just tryin to make things easier and more fool ( read Ron ) proof. I just set my kit down, remove the lid, turn on. I’m set to go. NO cords what so ever.

I am not a fan of using widi from accordion and arranger. As it sometimes will disconnect at least one time a gig. Even tried the Roland WM-1d pair. Probably since my arranger has a metal frame? But not certain? As far as control with Airturn it is flawless. Line of sight is important, would mount the widi to the front face of accordion, not on the bottom.

I use the Roland ‘wm - 1d pair with the usb on my accordion and do at least 1 gig a week and have never had it disconnect during a gig or for all the times I use it at home I like it because you have nothing out the bottom of the Roland accordion

I used it too. And I agree, to be plugged in front usb port is the best. With the FISA, I believe the USB port is in the back. Something to test when I get the fisa C.
Maybe the house gig location. I never get a disconnect otherwise at home or other places. I even ran my accordion batteries down till it turned off. Always connected. So, not a power issue.
I think routers are in the area that may affect signal? I will try the Wm1d again. Although, my older Korg PA3x, usb port is not midi compliant. All my other Korgs are.
One gig I was playing right below routers. At that time had midi Jet. It kept failing connection consistently. This was before wm1d and Widi.
It is not a big deal to use a midi cable as I am always seated. Do not move around anymore.

Never had a disconnect. I mounted the widi right where the strap mount is on the bottom. It is protected from damage. Granted I only play a couple jobs a week now. I carry a long midi cable for insurance. I also carry a spare 120 extension in the car just in case, but never had to use either so far over the last five or so “ wireless “ years. But the issue is none of the above mentioned. I simply want to acquire a mount for my widi, that makes it simple and easy to dismount. The Issue is, the other second widi unit doesn’t want to connect to the one on the arranger. I have contacted the widi people, they told me to go on their web site for instructions. THAT wasn’t much help.

I use a widi jack just Velcro’d to the front of the accordion. Easy enough to remove and replace. I have some wireless audio gear that’s attached the same way that I swap out all the time. One part is even velcro’d to the bottom of one of the back straps and connected with a short cable. Works just fine.
I have found the range of the widi jack to be pretty poor though. Even with line of sight and nothing else around, literally in the middle of a park, I only get a few feet before it drops the link although it connects back up just as quickly.
I am thinking of maybe trying a widi master to see if the range is better but connected via a short cable so I can Velcro it to the accordion. Might need to 3d print a clip of some sort to hold it.

Won't work... the issue is that you can only talk to ONE wireless MIDI device at a time on the arranger (so basically one "live" accordion at a time). Turn one off, reset things, all good. It's not ideal but thats the limitation of the technology today.

I'm not using WIDI, but I have two wired MIDI devices plugged into one synth using a CME "U4MIDI WC".
I am wondering if you had two WIDI receivers plugged in the U4MIDI would that solve your problem?

i wasn't aware of the U4MIDI WC

for 50 bucks it looks like one helluva bargain considering
even just the filter functions where we have been paying
way more for the MIDI Solutions event processor

and then consider so many $20 and $30 USB-MIDI PC devices are
pretty much a waste of money and buggy

so CME scores again for giving us reliable affordable stuff
that is actually useful and expands our potential

as for the current WIDI stuff i can't add anything to the discussions
as i am still using the original CME wireless MIDI series devices
(not bluetooth) and bought enough spares originally that they are
likely gonna last me my lifetime (not one has failed yet, and they
need no drivers or updates to work, even their original USB wireless hub device

plus i prefer the old stuff since it all uses discreet batteries not built in's
and swapping out TX or receivers is simple because you switch the
working channel physically and it just works.. no prompting handshaking
or other connection discussion needed

but you guys seem to have found interesting things to do with
the WIDI through USB connections so good on ya'

A good product for mapping midi messages or I plug (input) 3 midi pedals. Mapp to one widi master to pair to my Korg.

Well, I have the WIDI Master setup with my Roland FR8x and the Ketron SD90.
