Here is a beginning of a score marked "Accordéon Solo - Duett und Trio" (is that supposed to tell us that this can either be played by a single French player or two to three Germans?). The title page has "Accordeon Solo-Duo (und Trio)".

The duet rendition is reasonably clear: first instrument plays just the top line, second instrument plays the bottom two lines. Small notes in the top line are presumably not played because they would be duplicating material in the second line.
If the small notes are supposed to make any sense, that would suggest that a solo rendition actually plays first and third lines, with small notes in the first system getting played.
Except that the first system also exhibits double stems and "div." instructions, probably suggesting that a trio version has two instruments working on the first system.
I am a bit at a loss at what kind of ensemble is supposed to play which lines distributed in which manner. Are there conventions for this, or does one just "do the right thing" on an individual case. Does the "Direction" line indicate that this is only a partitura and that parts should be separately available? I cannot find a copyright/edition date in the score but would guess that it is likely from the 1940s.
