Hi, I stumbled across the group yesterday in my search for prices on a second-hand Pigini. Nice to discover another active group! I play piano accordion, mostly stradella/standard bass and make occasional forays into free-bass. Tango was my first interest in accordion; now I range into rock, jazz, folk from a few regions of Europe and some experimental stuff with electronica. I live in Western Australia on the edge of the suburbs of Perth where the bush begins, so I share my yard with loads of kangaroos and a few small reptiles :-) I make my living [such as it is] from music: playing, teaching, composing.

Looking forward to making your acquaintance!

Welcome to our group!!!! I live in Maryland, USA, I too live on the fringes of the wild, but not as wild as in Australia - I dont have kangaroo but do share my yard with many animals - herds of deer, foxes and many different birds are my most frequent and interesting animals.

I also play the piano accordion: pop, folk and country are my favorite genres. I have been playing for about 30+ years.

Welcome to the forum!

Hi there. I'm newish to the forum as well. Living almost in the bush sounds very exotic, I like the idea of wildlife including small reptiles. My wife is fascinated with them, but there aren't many here on the south coast of England near Brighton and defineatley no kangaroos! Good Luck with the music.

Yes, thats me and glad you found my youtube stuff interesting. mmmm....I also love my accordions :-)

I also have enjoyed your youtube videos. Your ernie felice sonola sounds perfect! I look forward to reading and learning from your posts!

Indeed some very nice youtube posts. I like the way you've combined acoustic and high tech in some of them. Do you often play live or mainly recording for your own and families pleasure? Just being nosey.

Hi Cathie, thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself on this forum. I've also noticed your videos on Youtube before, probably while looking up some Frank Marocco stuff - like many others, I really appreciate your fantastic jazz playing and lovely sounding instruments!

Simon.

Cool! 8-)

Where I live we have at most a hedgehog or a hare on the yard :(

Then again we have trolls living under the house ;)

Tee-hee... trolls under the house!! I see you're from Sweden - Barkis - I'm just setting out on learning some Swedish folk music, for some gigs coming up at our local Swedish club :-) I'm rather fond of a group called Vassen; do you know them? No accordion in the band. It's violin nyckelarpa and guitar. I really like the nykelarpa - and would love to get one! I forgot to mention in my inventory of Aussie wildlife... similar to a hedgehog: the echidna. I saw one in my yard a few months ago. They are very timid and roll up into a little ball when anyone approaches them.
Glenn - the amount and kind of live gigging I do varies from month to month. This week I'm working with our only full-time professional orchestra, doing the third Lord of the Rings film screened with the orchestra playing the music score live - the hobbit band is made up of guitar, cymbalom and accordion....getting my hairy feet on :-) I'm pretty sure our conductor is also Swedish... it's a theme running through my musical life at the moment!!

Im not sure if I have heard about Vassen before. Couldnt find much with them on youtube either.

Yes, nyckelharpa is a really nice instrument with its resonance-strings and the bass-string. It has a richer sound than a normal violin. I took part in a nyckelharpa-work-shop once. It was difficult.
