Hi folks, hope someone can give me a clue about a piano accordion I aquired earlier this year.
It is a Galletto 120 bass, 41 treble, 19" long, straight tuned with 11 treble and 3 bass registers.
On the rear of the treble section, near to the bellows, imprinted into the surface as if with a hot device is a serial number.
The number is OIK 91-21-05714. The first letter might be a D or a J. The second letter could be a T but I don't think it is.
Does anyone know where it was manufactured, who by, and when ?
The bellows seem very tight to open and close as if it has not been played a lot and the case is quite old looking.
Looking on other sites, etc., I have only found one other and that was a diatonic in Ireland.

I've come across a few Galletto button boxes in the past but never a PA. They also appeared here in the US with the brand name Mengascini.
You might try the " Mengascini -accordions-fan-club "on facebook for more info.

Following on from the last reply, I contacted Mengascini. Stefan confirmed that they had, in the past produced diatonic accordions badged Galletto.
He said that it was the trade name for Wilkinsons Musical Instruments in Northern Ireland. On speaking to Wilkinsons, their employee said that my accordion was probably 12 to 14 years old. He was not forthcoming as to where and by whom it had been manufactured.

Yesterday I was invited to see a friends recent accordion purchase. It was a Galletto 72. A 3 voice piano accordion, 72 bass as the name suggests. It was in near new condition and very playable. Very economic and suitable for a learner or mainly home user, superior to many of the oriental imports.

Several folks have said that they like the sound of mine, it's a Galletto 72 bass 2v CBA, luv it :D

It will be for sale but only after my last trip to the Crematorium ;) 8-)
