If you play harmonium/reed organ is it better to choose free bass or stradella bass accordion?
I myself play some piano (and synth keyboard) and chose the stradella bass (I just didn't long for a plrtable organ but the polka machine)
What are your professional thought?

I'd say they have different applications and for "polka machine" the stradella should be excellent.

If you mean which is better suited for your piano fingers/brain, I couldn't tell, but think stradella is still easiest.

If you want to play piano or organ music, most of the time youll want a free bass/converter. Some styles of piano music map pretty well to Stradella, however, once you either actively transfer them or get really good at reading and translating left-hand (and sometimes some right-hand) notes.

A full-bodied accompaniment in percussive style is hard to do on a free bass because of jumping between low bass notes and higher chord notes and because you want multiple octaves in a full-bodied chord. So a pure free bass instrument will be unsatisfactory for some music styles idiomatic for accordion.

If you own a hammer, and want to set a screw, what is better, a drill or an impact wrench?

Im not being funny, but your organ has about as much to do with accordions as a hammer has with screwdrivers. :)

One does not choose a bass configuration based on what you play now, one chooses Free Bass vs Stradella based on your personal needs and choices as a musician/accordionist. Stradella has its advantages and Free Bass as well, though different advantages.

I love and play both systems, each has its place in my heart and time to be used in my music. :)

With a convertor you have the best of both worlds and can choose whether you want to play a melody with the left hand (over more than one octave) or whether you want the chords that make accompaniment easier. The only thing you lose is a lot more money...

But it worth it.

The only question remaining is, what kind of music he plays?

I also think a convertor instrument will do the job, but they are very heavy, so keep that in mind too, Hernikhank
