Hi folks. Wondering if someone could offer advice on what to look for before I attempt to fix a squeaky bass button on my main accordion. It's the E minor chord, which seems to be in most of the songs I like these days. I've taken the bottom plate off before to clean the bass mechanism on my other accordion (while still assembled though, I'm not fool enough to try to reassemble one given my very limited experience.) Is there an easy fix for this issue? All the other buttons sound as usual, but the squeak on Em just started happening.

(to state the obvious) The main issue is probably working out where the squeak is coming from.

Candidates are
1) The Em button itself rubbing in the hole
2) Somewhere in the bass machine rods
3) Springs or pallets involved in Em

If it's just Em it seems to me it's probably the button rubbing in the hole or the rod behind the button. All the other bits of the mechanism should be activated by other chords - you could try chords that use B E G to check that.

Pick up a can of ---

Spray it on the button & piston - it goes on wet & dries to a white powder.
